3 prominent voices on being nonbinary: Their stories of harassment and love — in Big Mouth or beyond

Brandon Kyle Goodman, a nonbinary voice actor in Netflix’s award-winning animated series Big Mouth, thinks his trans stories are more vulnerable than usual. The 19-year-old actor says a fan once threatened to cut off his nose — a tactic used by a fawning admirer when a girl had unwanted interest in him. “I think it’s a lot harder for people who are nonbinary than it is for people who are female-to-male,” he says, adding that he thinks living as a nonbinary nonconforming person makes an audience tense. “We’re giving people the pleasure of coming to know who we are and loving who we are without reading any of our pronouns or anything like that.”
