Musician Bryan Adams has confirmed he was hospitalized for having traces of carbon monoxide in his bloodstream, the two days after an Italian promoter suggested that he had taken his own life. Adams’ publicist denied it in an email on Wednesday, but the “Run to You” singer provided a statement to journalists on Wednesday evening. It turns out, Adams started feeling ill over the weekend in the northern Italian city of Turin. He called his doctor after experiencing headaches and losing his appetite. He was told he had elevated carbon monoxide levels in his bloodstream, which indicates he may have inhaled too much gas. The 48-year-old Canadian — whose songs include “Summer of ’69” and “Islands in the Stream” — has toured the world for more than two decades.
